Today, the Green Team kids ran the Grade 3-6 ‘Race-to-Recycle’ event at lunchtime. This activity tested student’s knowledge about waste management, as they raced other teams, to place as many waste items in the correct bins as possible.
The most commonly misplaced item was the take-away coffee cup. The Green Team kids had to explain that these are mostly not recyclable, because they are lined with plastic, to keep them water proof. Of course the lids are recyclable, as they have the ‘recycle’ symbol on it.
Thanks again to Miss Emery for helping the Green Team kids run this activity. The winning team from today’s event will be announced at our next assembly (prizes!)
